Agropedia on iPod Touch

Purpose of Document
This document proposes the deployment of the agriculture knowledge repository, Agropedia on the
Wi-Fi supported mobile platform of an iPod Touch to effectively realize content delivery through
a mobile handheld device.
Agropedia is an agriculture knowledge repository of universal meta models and localized content
for a variety of users with appropriate interfaces built in collaborative mode in multiple languages.
agropedia aims to develop a comprehensive digital content framework, platform, and tools in support
of agricultural extension and outreach. In other words, it aspires to be a one stop shop for any
information, pedagogic or practical knowledge related to extension services in Indian agriculture an
audiovisual encyclopedia, to enchant, educate and transform the process of digital content creation
and organization completely . Figure 1 shows a knowledge map of agropedia.

The iPod Touch is a portable media player, personal digital assistant, and Wi-Fi mobile platform
designed and marketed by Apple Inc. The iPod Touch adds the multi-touch graphical user interface
to the iPod line and is available with 8, 16, or 32 GB of flash memory. It includes Apple’s Safari
web browser and is the first iPod with wireless access .
By deploying Agropedia on a mobile handheld device like an iPod Touch, we can greatly enhance
its availability for a vast majority of people involved in the agriculture industry, who reside in rural
areas and who otherwise would not be able to make use of Agropedia due to bandwidth problems.
To ensure full use of the knowledge resources at Agropedia, accessibility is very important. With a
big portion of its aimed users residing in rural areas and areas with low/no bandwidth, we need a
way to make Agropedia accessible to users in rura
