College of the Ozarks Transfer Guide
College of the Ozarks welcomes transfer students and tries to make the transition – and transfer of
courses – student friendly. In general, transfer courses from regionally accredited institutions will be
accepted by College of the Ozarks. Courses of a developmental or remedial nature will not be
accepted, nor will courses designed for vocational/technical credit. Not all courses have direct
equivalents and may be transferred as elective credit. Transfer students must complete a minimum
of 45 credit hours at College of the Ozarks. All students must complete at least 36 hours of upper
division (300 and 400 level courses). All transfer work requires an official transcript from the issuing
Dual Enroll courses
Some high schools work together with a college to allow a student to receive credit for college work.
The College will accept courses taken as a dual enrollee when properly reflected on an official
transcript of the College (not the high school).
Associate of Arts
An Associate of Arts degree from a fully accredited college or university will fulfill the General
Education requirements at the College of the Ozarks, with the following exceptions:
1. Six hours of Religion, including REL 343, Biblical Theology and Ethics, are required. (The lower
division course may be transferred to the college, if similar in content and equal in credit to
REL 103, Biblical Survey.)
2. ENG 303, College Composition II and REL 343, Biblical Theology and Ethics are required and
will likely need to be taken at College of the Ozarks.
3. Candidates for the B.S. degree may need additional courses in mathematics, science, or
computer science depending upon the courses taken for the AA degree.
Candidates for the B.A. degree will take two courses in one foreign language (6 hours).
Associate degrees other than the Associate of Arts will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
General Education Requirements
College of the Ozarks has 48-55 credit hou
