It seems just yesterday we entered 2010, but it's already the end of June – where do you stand with your health
and your goals? We're halfway through the year. Six months down, six months to do! The year has been
tumultuous thus far, with natural disasters and ecological nightmares plaguing the world. The stress takes a toll on
the health and well-being of everyone, whether or not they are immediately affected by a disaster.
But you can take action to improve your health and well-being, despite the negativity that abounds in the world.
You can create a positive outlook for yourself and your family, in
terms of physical health, well-being, emotional health, and
prosperity. A strong immune system is your foundation for success.
If
your immune system is strong, you won't find yourself coming down
with illnesses that can impact your productivity. Your energy levels
will be high and you'll experience peak performance.
So if you've been struggling in 2010 and haven't accomplished your
goals, don't fear. We've entered the summer months, at least those
of us in the northern hemisphere, and sunshine is abundant.
Sunshine boosts energy and mood levels, plus it provides Vitamin D,
an essential nutrient. Taking in lots of sunshine will help your body
absorb Vitamin D and help strengthen your immune system.
Other good news is that it's gardening season – ample opportunity
for a daily intake of nutrient-rich fresh fruits and vegetables. Fresh
fruits and vegetables are a dietary staple for obtaining essential
vitamins and minerals. Fruits and vegetables like carrots, broccoli,
sweet potatoes, cantaloupe and bell peppers are easy to grow and
packed with nutrients. Not to mention, they make tasty meals, too!
If salads aren't your thing, investigate the Mediterranean diet, known to be heart healthy and rich in fresh fruits
and vegetables. You'll be surprised how many things you once turned your nose at are actually incredibly delicious.
You don't have to give up meats, but you should make lean selections: turkey, chicken and pork.
