STATEMENT OF POLICY
I.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this policy is to provide employees with the City of Findlay’s position regarding alcohol and
drug abuse. The City of Findlay believes it is very important to provide a safe work environment, and to
improve an employee’s health and job performance when affected by substance abuse. The City of Findlay has
established a drug-free workplace program that balances our respect for individuals with the need to maintain
an alcohol and drug-free work environment. The City of Findlay encourages employees to voluntarily seek help
with drug and alcohol problems.
The following policy is established in order to provide a drug free workplace. New and existing
employees are hereby notified that, as a condition of employment with the City of Findlay, every
employee is required to:
Abide by the terms of this Policy Statement.
Notify the Safety Director or Mayor of any criminal drug or alcohol statute conviction no later than
(5) days after such conviction.
Report to their supervisor if they are taking a medication prescribed by a physician and having a
reaction to such medication which could affect their performance on the job.
Any employee is prohibited from:
Possessing, selling or using controlled substances, or illegal drugs, while on the job, on city
property, or in a city-owned vehicle or operating city machinery.
Working or reporting to work under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or illegal drugs.
Operating city owned vehicles or machinery while under the influence of alcohol, controlled
substances or illegal drugs.
Being involved in the trafficking of illegal drugs or a controlled substance whether it is the actual
