JOB DESCRIPTION
ELECTRIC FOREMAN
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
UNION AFFILIATION: IBEW
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Provides a variety of routine and complex supervisory and construction work for the Electric Utility.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:
Under no supervision perform duties involved with the operation, construction, and maintenance and
future planning of the distribution system. The position will be required to perform rotational stand-
by duties on weekends and holidays. The training of Apprentice Lineman will be the responsibility
of this position. The proven demonstration of good judgement and the ability to assume total
responsibility for projects undertaken will be a requirement. Safety of the employees and the public
will be a responsibility of the position.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Be responsible for particular areas of activity – OH & URD.
a. Direct work of crews on job sites.
b. Advise operations manager of required manpower and equipment.
c. Walk job site with Operations Manager and discuss any unusual circumstances in regards
to crew safety or construction problems and relay these concerns to the crewmembers.
d. Assemble material and supplies at job site.
e. Discuss personal crewmember achievements or problems with Operations Manager for
review and action, if required.
f. Report any problems with vehicles or equipment to the utility mechanic. Ensure daily
vehicle or equipment lubrication is performed.
g. Utilize manpower – equipment and material in an efficient manner for the good of the
utility and its ratepayers. Safety of the public and employees to be the first priority.
h. Ensure system changes and circuit configurations are up to date on the mapping system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited apprenticeship program or enough on the job training to compensate
for lack of graduate certificate. Sufficient knowledge of the Oconomowoc Utilities distrib
