Newest Members of the Promega
Genetic Identity Team
CRISTIAN CAPELLI, PH.D.
We are pleased to announce the addition of a new member to the Genetic Identity
team in Europe. Cristian Capelli joins Promega as a Technical Services Scientist
supporting the needs of our customers in Europe. Cristian grew up in central Italy
and received his degree in Molecular Biology at the University “La Sapienza” in
Rome, where he studied the role of small nucleolar RNAs in ribosome biosynthesis.
He then earned his Ph.D. in Forensic Genetics at the Institute of Legal Medicine,
Catholic University of Rome, where he performed mtDNA sequencing and STR
analysis for casework and database setup. As part of his Ph.D. program, he spent
one year at the Institute of Zoology of the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich
and one year at the Galton Laboratory of the University College of London, where
he focused on ancient DNA and human population genetics. He has extensive
experience in STR analysis, with particular focus on Y-chromosome markers. As
part of his studies, he developed PCR-RFLP protocols for multiplex genotyping of
Y-chromosome SNPs that were used for studies focused on populations in South
East Asia, the British Isles and Italy.
In his new role at Promega, Cristian will be involved in customer training and
technical support for Genetic Identity products and applications. He will also
develop educational talks and represent Promega at meetings.
Cristian enjoys hiking, motorbikes and science fiction. He lives with his wife in

We are pleased to introduce Yasser Daoudi, one of the newest members of our field
staff. Yasser joins Promega as a Forensic Regional Account Manager. He comes to
us from Applied Biosystems, where he was a Forensic Product Specialist. Before
