On January 1, 2005, the
Physical Plant Division
welcomed the latest branch
to
the
family
-
the Grounds
Maintenance department, formerly a
subdivision of Campus Park and
Planning.
“The merger has been talked about
for several years, but was never acted
upon. Serious discussions with
Campus Park and Planning began in
July 2004 and it was announced to the
Board (of Trustees) in November,”
said Grounds Maintenance Manager
Gary Parrott.
The merger coincides with the
collective 2020 Vision Plan for
Michigan State. The purpose of the
“2020 plan” is to allow facility growth,
conserve land, accentuate natural land
beautification, and balance the ratio of
vehicles to pedestrians. Campus Park
