No 3/ Beijing, 18 November 2008
International Sports Facilities Expo China closes to
positive response
Key trade event for the sports facilities aims to change mindsets and help
develop the booming industry.
ISFE and the China Sports Facilities Management Conference was held
November 17-18, 2008, at China World Trade Center in Beijing. The 4th
ISFE showcased a trade fair with a full conference, attracting more than 1,600
visitors to the event over two days. The event was organized by the China
National Sports Group (CNSG) and German trade fair organizer Koelnmesse, in
co-operation with China Sports Industry International, the Sports Facilities
Construction and Standards Authority of State General Administration of Sport
of P.R. of China, China Sports Venue Association and China Sporting Goods
Federation (CSGF), and supported by the State General Administration of Sport
of P.R. of China, the Chinese Olympic Committee, as well as international
organizations such as the International Association for Sports and Leisure
Facilities (IAKS) and the Venue Management Association Asia-Pacific (VMA).
It was an ideal time for such a trade event to be held in Beijing since the Beijing
Olympics ended in August with a lasting and positive legacy for China. Venues
such as the Bird’s Nest (China National Stadium) and the Water Cube (National
Aquatics Centre) were key features during the games and operations and
management of these venues naturally do continue.
The Olympics have laid a solid foundation for the emergence of the sports
facility industry in China. Chen Entang, Vice Director of economic department
