AutoCAD Civil 3D Template Building Guide
I.II.I (one to one) is not a software vendor. We’re the nation’s leading provider of high-powered AutoCAD
Civil 3D, Microstation™, GEOPAK™, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Revit Implementation, custom training,
cross training, template building, and related Professional Services. We serve both public and private
companies, as well as Federal, State, and Local agencies with real-world solutions for your computer
aided design and drafting needs.
I.II.I has developed several simple, yet highly effective plans for introducing AutoCAD Civil 3D into
production. These plans include the modification of a standard AutoCAD Civil 3D drawing template that
ships with the software and is based upon the NCS AIA CAD Layer Guidelines.
Our Template Building Plan, the focus of this document, includes the modification of common Civil 3D
‘styles’ and associated layers (more as time allows) included in this template, and is intended for use by a
team or teams of individuals assigned the task of piloting the introduction of Civil 3D within an
organization. The “team” can be all the Civil 3D users in a small organization, a single design team (e.g.
Education, Residential, Big Box, Small Box) within the framework of a larger organization, or individuals
from various teams within a much larger organization handed the task of studying the introduction of
AutoCAD Civil 3D into production for the organization as a whole.
I.II.I will work on-site (or off-site when more cost-effective) with you for a period not to exceed 24 hours
and shall modify this NCS based template to:
Introduce a proven method for Civil 3D adoption into your organization, and
Introduce Civil 3D CAD Standards into your organization.
Our goal is to mirror the appearance of your digital drawings, as much as possible during the course of 24
hours, in an effort to minimize the time required for you to achieve a maximum return on your investment.
