PHILADELPHIA--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Intracorp (International Rehabilitation Associates, Inc.), a
subsidiary of CIGNA Corp. (NYSE:CI), has earned full accreditation from URAC for the company’s case
management and utilization management programs. The accreditations, which are effective for three years, recognize
the quality of these programs.
URAC is an independent, non-profit organization that promotes health care quality through its rigorous and
nationally-recognized accreditation and certification programs. The accreditation process typically lasts several
months and includes an extensive review of a company’s programs and operations.
“We congratulate Intracorp on earning these accreditations. The company’s willingness to undergo such rigorous
evaluation demonstrates a true commitment to quality,” said URAC Senior Vice President and Chief Accreditation
Officer Christine G. Leyden, R.N., MSN.
“We’re delighted that we have passed this exacting review with flying colors,” said Dr. Alan Muney, CIGNA's
senior vice president for total health and network. “The full accreditation from URAC is a much-welcomed validation
of the case management and utilization management programs that our customers rely on, and it affirms that we have
the right policies, procedures and clinical staff to help people improve and maintain their health.”
Through the company’s case management programs, people coping with cancer, a transplant, diabetes, a
complicated pregnancy, and many other health challenges, receive coaching and support that helps them get the most
from their medical care and benefits. A case manager serves as a single point of contact and as an advocate for the
individual. CIGNA's utilization management program reviews health care services for medical necessity and
appropriateness to facilitate proper benefit administration.
