the Utilities sector.
Service Sector Statistics Division prepared
this report. Bobby E. Russell, Assistant
Chief for Census Programs,was respon-
sible for the overall planning,manage-
ment,and coordination. Planning and
implementation were under the direction
of Steven M. Roman, Chief,Utilities and
Financial Census Branch,assisted by
Pamela J. Palmer. Primary staff
assistance was provided by Diane M.
Carodiskey-Beeson, Sandra K. Creech,
Carrie A. Hill, Amy R. Houtz, Lori E.
Inman, Debra G. Karrels and

well as the coverage operations were pro-
vided by Carl A. Konschnik, Assistant
Chief for Research and Methodology,
assisted by Carol S. King, Chief,Statisti-

Chief,Program Research and Development
Branch,with staff assistance from
Maria C. Cruz and David L. Kinyon.
The Economic Planning and Coordination
Division provided overall planning and
review of many operations and the com-
puter processing procedures. Shirin A.
Ahmed, Assistant Chief for Post-Collection
Processing,was responsible for edit proce-
dures and designing the interactive ana-
lytical software. Design and specifications
were prepared under the supervision of
Dennis L. Shoemaker, Chief,Census Pro-
cessing Branch,assisted by John D.
Ward. Primary staff assistance was pro-
vided by Sonya P. Curcio, Richard W.
Graham, and Cheryl E. Merkle. The Eco-
nomic Product Team,with primary contri-
butions from Andrew W. Hait and
Jennifer E. Lins, was responsible for the
development of the system to disseminate
1997 Economic Census reports.
