IN MEMORY OF
Memorial Day at RHR Cemetery
On Monday, May 29th at 10am, we will be
holding our fourth annual Memorial Day ser-
vice on the grounds of Russell Haven of Rest
under the cover of Vietnam era tents. If you are
a Vietnam Veteran come smell a memory. We
will have a display of restored WWII military
vehicles, a sample of memorabilia from the
planned Clay County Military Museum and pa-
triotic music.
The ceremony will feature guest speaker, State Rep. Jennifer Carroll. In
2003, Jennifer won her election for State House of Representatives, District
13 and was reelected in 2004. She is the first African-American female Re-
publican ever to be elected to the Florida Legislature. Currently, Jennifer is
the Vice-Chair of the Ethics and Election Committee and serves on the Fi-
nance & Tax, Growth Management and Business Regulation Committees in
addition to her duties as Majority Whip.
Jennifer is the former Executive Director of Florida Department of Veterans'
Affairs. She was responsible for the claims and benefits of
over 1.8 million veterans. Under her leadership, more than
$63 million in retroactive compensation was awarded to
Florida veterans.
Jennifer enlisted in the Navy in 1979. She rose through the
ranks from an enlisted Jet Mechanic and retired as a highly
decorated Lieutenant Commander Aviation Maintenance
Officer after 20-years.
