Notice of Commission Member Recruitment

The Department of Health (department) is accepting applications to fill vacancies on the
Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission (commission).
The department is recruiting for three licensed chiropractor positions to become effective July 1,
2008. The department is looking for public-spirited individuals willing to study the issues and to
make decisions in the best interest of the public and to reflect the diversity of Washington’s
population while providing geographic representation throughout the state.
The commission consists of fourteen members - eleven licensed chiropractors and three public
members all appointed by the Governor.
Eligibility for the commission is as follows:
• Each professional member of the commission shall be a citizen of the United States and have
been licensed under chapter 18.25 RCW for at least five years immediately preceding
appointment.
• Commission members must be residents of Washington State, cannot be employed by
Washington State, and must not hold an office in a chiropractic professional association.
The commission meets approximately six times a year, usually at the department’s office in
Tumwater or Kent. Members are paid $250.00 per meeting day and are reimbursed for travel
expenses and meal per diem. Commission members attend one-day commission meetings
scheduled during business hours on Thursdays. The commission establishes its meeting schedule
about one year in advance. The typical time commitment ranges between 10 to 15 days per year
which may also include an annual workshop and the department’s one-day Board, Commission,
and Committee conference.
In addition, commission members also participate on disciplinary panels that meet by telephone
or in person several times per year. Panels may meet with short advance notice in order to
