Top Spring Cleaning Tips 
Traditionally spring makes us think of the better weather, the lovely spring flowers and giving our home a spring 
clean. A thorough spring clean can be time consuming and seem like a real chore. We have some top tips to make 
it easier. 
Get Organised 
First decide how you would like to tackle your spring clean, will you work room by room or do it job by job? Once 
you have decided create a list of all the jobs that need doing, not only will this mean that nothing gets missed but 
you will also be able to see your progress as you tick things off. Make sure that you have all the cleaning supplies 
you will need to hand. 
Spring Cleaning Tasks 
For all rooms you will need to clean light fittings, windowsills, curtain poles, wipe down skirtings, door handles and 
plug switches. Blinds and curtains should be cleaned. Each room should be hoovered or floored cleaned, moving 
furniture so you can clean underneath or behind. Hoover soft furnishings.  In your bedroom don’t forget your 
mattresses, rotate these and hoover them. Give your carpets a refresh with a carpet deodorizer or a sprinkle of 
baking soda (we would always recommend a patch test first), leave these to work for a few minutes before vacu-
uming the carpet to remove the powder. 
When spring cleaning it’s an ideal time to make sure that appliances in the kitchen are sparkling! For stubborn 
stains and splatters in microwaves you can help to soften and remove these by steam cleaning, use a large micro-
wave-safe bowl with a cup of water and a chopped lemon, orange or some vinegar, turn the microwave on high 
until the solution boils and the glass is steamy, then leave to cool for five minutes before opening the door. Care-
fully remove the bowl and wipe with a sponge or cloth. 
Give your oven a thorough clean, if it doesn’t have a self-cleaning function use a hot wet cloth on burned on dirt to 
help soften before using either an oven cleaner or baking powder to remove, rinse and wipe dry. Give your fridge 
shelves and all its containers a wash in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
