CeBIT Trade Fair Media Coverage
March 2-3, 2009
Accompanying Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, CTTC participated in CeBIT,
the world’s leading computer and IT trade fair, in Hannover, Germany. In 2009,
California was selected as the first-ever Partner State.
Along with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Governor Schwarzenegger
officially opened CeBIT on March 2. On May 3, the Governor was the guest of
honor at an American Chamber of Commerce luncheon, where he received a
prestigious award. Attending the luncheon were many German leaders,
including the German Ministers of Economics and Interior Affairs, as well as
German CEOs and industry leaders.
Also on March 3, CTTC planned and sponsored a VIP night that included the
Governor, key travel media and trade industry influentials. The Governor and
CTTC CEO Caroline Beteta spoke to 1,000 guests at this California-branded
CTTC was listed as an official co-sponsor of this Governor‘s mission. Staff were
accompanied by a delegation from California including Commissioner Mike
Gallagher, CityPass; Donna Mulgrew, Huntington Beach CVB; Linsey Gallagher,
Wine Institute; and Norbert Simon, SeaWorld San Diego.

Objectives & Reach
CTTC’s objectives were to build and enhance relationships between the CTTC
staff and California delegation and German tour operators, important media
and other industry leaders. Additional goals were to create an environment
that enabled delegates to network efficiently with a variety of German travel
trade and media, both formally and informally, and to use a unique high-end
series of events with the Governor’s attendance to reinforce key relationships
in the German market.
