Be A Self Builder - Part 5

As we continue this series about Success Core Principles from W. Clement Stone I
hope to give you the value of these important principles.
The fifth principle is:
Know the secret to happiness
“To be happy, make other people happy.”
Are you happy? Ask yourself this question and see what answers you come up with.
Are the answers self fulfilling or can the answers help more than just you to be happy?
Have you ever done a random act of kindness and watched the smile you were able to
give someone? Try holding a door open for someone or several people at a store or
restaurant when you’re out and smile. You never know how a simple smile may
change the day for someone.
This Sunday we had a bit of a blissful day with several strong rain showers and a
cold front that came through during our 11:00 church service. So needless to say a lot
of people at church were without their umbrellas during the service.
Not only was the sermon about being a servant of God, but the sermon also had an
underlying message of helping others. Well our youth director got our young adults into
action with several large umbrellas to walk people to their cars with the umbrellas to
cover them. Not only did I enjoy the smiles and thankful attitudes of the people being
helped, but seeing the youth perform and their reactions to the praise was great.
I could see the youth realize the benefit they were giving by this simple act and the
kind praise they received. These are our future leaders of our society and they got the
chance to see what simple acts of kindness and helping others be happy can do.
Imagine how that will grow in their mind and magnify over the years.
When we got home, we decided to watch a great movie that exemplifies the idea of
making others happy. “The Blind Side” with Sandra Bullock. I would highly recommend
this movie to remind us of the benefits of helping others. It ma
