And how can we top that
you ask? Well, there’s an-
other day of glorious treats
and shenanigans still to en-
joy. The Main Stage alone
today boasts The Hat, The
Young Knives, The Stran-
glers and Hot Chip to name
but a few.
All over the site the fun
will be continuing into the
wee small hours of Mon-
day morning.
So get out there and enjoy it. It’s been a fan-
tastic Bestival, and from everyone here we
thank you all for helping make it all so very,
very special. See you next year.
Is it really only three, short years since the Scissor Sisters came bursting
out of the New York electroclash scene on a mission to glam up the world
wherever they set foot?
A lot has happened to Jake, Babydaddy, Ana, Del and Paddy
since then. Originally founded in 2002 by former stripper Jake
Shears, the band had a couple of minor club hits with their
early singles before really starting to attract attention in early 2004 with their take on
Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb.
The twelve months that followed redefined the word meteoric. Single after exquisite
single (notably Take Your Mama and Filthy Gorgeous) created an immense buzz about
the band and at the end of 2004 their eponymous debut was the confirmed as the UK’s
top selling LP of the year.
Their artistry, impact and relevance were recog-
nised at the 2005 Brit Awards when Scissor Sisters
walked away with every category they were nomi-
nated for: International Group, International Break-
through and International Album.
2005 also saw a much-lauded performance at Live
8, firmly cementing the U.K. as their “spiritual
home.”
Current single I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ roared up
the charts on sales of downloads alone recently, and
with new LP Ta-Dah out 18th Sept and a sell-out UK
arena tour to follow, tonight is probably the most,
ahem, intimate Scissor Sisters show you’re likely to
be lucky enough to see. And what a way to round off
Bestival. Main Stage, 9.00pm. Enjoy.
