COURSE OVERVIEW
The experience of cancer can be extremely challenging for patients, families
and clinicians. Sensitive attention to psychosocial needs is an essential compo-
nent of comprehensive cancer care. This course is designed to provide data
driven and practical recommendations for coping with the challenges of cancer.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
The information presented at this educational activity should improve your
ability to:
identify effective strategies to communicate with patients and families ex-
periencing a cancer diagnosis
discuss recent advances in targeted therapies with patients and families
facing cancer
explain the basic principles of genetic counseling to patients and their fami-
lies
educate practitioners, patients and caregivers regarding the role of exercise
in the cancer treatment plan

Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers,
psychologists, clergy, pharmacists, physical therapists, mental health counsel-
ors, marriage and family therapists, patient advocates, individuals coping with
