Application for Rental of CICA Affordable Housing
The Chebeague Island Community Association (CICA) is pleased to provide you with this
application for its affordable rental housing on Chebeague. The application should be submitted
to the CICA Secretary Beth Howe, 168 South Road, Chebeague Island ME 04017.
The purpose of CICA’s year-round, affordable housing effort is to support the survival of a
diverse year-round community on Chebeague. Elements of this include:
Supporting the school
Supporting the island economy
Supporting island voluntary organizations
Strengthening family and community ties
Your application will be reviewed by a selection committee based on the following
Completeness of the application
Is applicant a year-round resident of Chebeague?
If not, is the applicant planning to become a year-round resident of Chebeague?
Length of residence on Chebeague
Presence of children in the household
Employment on Chebeague
Contribution to island voluntary organizations
Degree of need for affordable housing
Income and assets
Stability of present housing arrangements
Evidence of responsible occupancy of housing
Past rental experience
Exact criteria are set out in a document called CICA Rental Assistance Eligibility Requirements
and Criteria available on the CICA website. If basic criteria are met, then the application review
committee may request an interview.
If you do not get CICA housing when your application is reviewed for the first time, you may
leave your application on file and place your name on a waiting list with CICA for consideration
for future rental opportunities. When another unit is available, you will be notified and the
application should be updated.
Co-Applicant: If two or more unrelated people are interested in renting together, they
should apply together as applicant and co-applicant(s).
