Sometimes it seems as though winter is hardly
over and it’s the end of September and time
to think about this letter and making changes
to this year’s brochure. This is one of those years,
but there is very little change. We have added a 4½
foot tree to our list of available items and the baby
tree is now a Balsam Fir instead of a Fraser Fir.
We did that because we can pot them earlier in
the year and give them a chance to “get settled”
in their pots so they will stand up more easily
on your coffee table or mantle.
We have searched 15 years for a source of apple
and spice scented candles for the centerpieces and
finally found some. They are hand dipped right here
in Maine instead of manufactured by a machine out
there…somewhere. A bit more expensive, but we
think they are worth it and feel confident you will
as well. Recognizing there are some folks who have
allergies to the scent, we will always have some
of the unscented ones available. Just ask.
We should probably put a picture of our little shop
on the website, especially for those who have never
been to the farm. The room is 12 x 30, with wreath-
making on one end, decorating booths down one side
and shipping counter on the other with a six foot
aisle down the middle. Centerpieces and garland
are also made there. At times there might be as
many as ten people packed in that space. Often,
large bundles of greens have to be brought down
the length of the aisle to the wreathmakers.
Amazingly, there are few collisions. I have seen
some moves worthy of the Royal Ballet.
It is good of you to allow us into your home with
our brochure. We appreciate it very much. Norma
and I wish for all of you a peaceful a
