Program Description
The goals of the International University of Monaco’s (IUM) Intensive English Language Program (IELP) are to
ready non-native speakers to successfully undertake university study in English and to prepare them for the iBT
TOEFL examination.
Placement in courses is determined with an in-house exam or with the standardized tests TOEFL, TOEIC, or
Cambridge (IELTS). The IELP comprises some 12-week terms as well as a 4-week summer course in July. It is
aimed at IUM undergraduate and graduate candidates, but is open to everyone. As class size is kept small,
personal coaching and individual feedback complement formal instruction and contribute to student progress.
Students receive a high volume of homework and need to work hard outside of the classroom. No university credit
is given in this program. A Pass or Fail grade is awarded to students based on attendance. Students who receive a
Pass grade are eligible for a Certificate of Completion.
