County Insurance Review; Auto Insurance Country
Asking the right questions can save you in the long run
Auto Insurance, like many other insurance coverage’s you should have, has a number of different
components, some of which vary a great deal from state to state. It is very important to ask questions
and come to some understanding of what you have and need. This is one area where a little knowledge
can go a long way.
Arguably the most important part is Liability coverage. Many states have a minimum, which is usually
far to little coverage to protect you if something actually happens. Ask your agent what the difference
in cost is to go to $100,000 or $250,000 or even $500,000. Compare that cost
to what would happen if
Should I have collision and comprehensive? The question to ask yourself is ...what would it cost to
replace my car with one just like it? Can I afford to cover that myself if something happens? As an
alternative, what is the cost of covering it with insurance? As a general rule of thumb, for most people,
if the vehicle is worth more than a couple thousand, it should have full coverage.
This brings me to what I feel is the most important question. Look your agent right in the eye (or ear if
your agent is over the phone) and ask this: Can I ask you about a potential claim and get your advice
without a claim actually being filed? It is important to have the ability to talk openly without the
penalty of a mandatory claim being part of the bargain.
