Alzheimer’s Association Musical Benefit

Obispo is hosting Creekside Concert, a free concert to benefit the Alzheimer’s
Association on September 18, 2009 at 6:00pm. Held on The Villages campus at 55
Broad Street, this year’s event will feature music by Café Musique, food, wine, and
the friendship of The Villages’ neighbors.
This first annual event will assist the San Luis Obispo County Office of the
Alzheimer’s Association, whose mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease
through research, promotion of brain health, and enhanced care and support for all
affected. The California Central Coast Chapter uses 80% of funds raised for
programs, services, and research efforts.
“All of our services are free, so we really depend on donations and fundraisers such
as Concert by the Creek and Memory Walk” says Sara Bartlett, Alzheimer’s
Association Area Director for the San Luis Obispo County Office.
More than 6,000 people in our county have Alzheimer's disease, each of whom have
two to four caregivers. That means approximately 24,000 people are affected in San
Luis Obispo County.

The concert event will run from 6:00pm – 7:30pm and event parking will be available
on-site. Café Musique, a Central Coast favorite, will play their customary blend of
classical, swing, gypsy, folk and tango rhythms. Two- and three-part harmonies top
eclectic instrumentation, comprised of violin, accordion, guitar and bass. Local
wines and chicken and tri-tip sandwiches will be sold, with proceeds also
benefitting the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk.
