Parks & Recreation
Directs the operational, financial, personnel, and capital improvement activities of the Parks & Recreation
Directly supervises all seasonal employees. Prepares and administers the annual operating budget and
the five-year capital improvement budget for the department. Monitors expenditures during the year
and makes recommendations for budget modifications or additional funds. Submits on a bi-weekly
basis an accounting of each weeks working hours.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
LISTENS to and RESPONDS to questions, concerns, complaints, service requests, etc., from general
public via the telephone, in person, and in writing.
ATTENDS and participates in all meetings of the Park Board except when own employment is under
ADVISES the Park Board on the need for new and/or revised policies and programs; implements all
policies and programs the Park Board approves
PREPARES annual operating budget recommendations to Park Board
PREPARES AND SUBMITS to Park Board recommendations relative to all matters requiring Board
action, placing before the Board such necessary and helpful facts, information and reports as needed to
ensure the making of informed decisions.
INFORMS and ADVISES the Board about programs and problems of the recreation program, swimming
pool, and parks and keeps the Board informed of the activities operating under the Boards authority.
ADVISES the Board of qualified and competent employees and supervisors when needed
MAKE a concerted effort to become an active part of the community (to include involvement in activities
and events not directly related to parks and recreation).
