Minutes of BCA Committee meeting on 2 December
1. Attendance: Bernard Davies (chair), Heather Dunlop (Minutes), Cllr Ryland Doyle,
Jason Parker, Matt Smith Guest: Cllr June Evans
2. Apologies: Terri Kennedy, Gareth Lewis, Gerrie Maber, Steve Payne, Mike Slee
3. Minutes of last meeting on 4 November were agreed.
4. Actions outstanding from previous meeting
4.1 SCVS Bernard has forwarded application to join.
4.2 Petition Progress Birchgrove Colts have now returned their signed petitions. Blank
copies have been left in all of the 4 shops in the village. The online petition has
started to gain strength and contains some very relevant comments. On 17
November a letter was sent to the Comprehensive School asking for support with
the petition and seeking advice on how pupils would like to see the Park
4.3 Events at Community Centre. Bingo on a Thursday night has been added to
“what’s on” section of the website but Heather has not contacted any of the other
groups pending a decision about asking for donations.
4, 4 Birchgrove Colts have replied that they do not feel that they have enough
support to take on the Pavilion but they fully support our campaign.
4.5 Fund applications: Ryland and Matt have now met to discuss possible fund
applications. Most need us to hold the lease of the pavilion before we could apply
4.6 Letter asking for donations. It was decided to hold fire on this for the time being.
Our position would be stronger if we applied for charity status and we could then
ask for donations to the BCA and decide which community projects we spent it on.
Heather will look into the legal implications for committee members.
4.7 Litter pick Terri had provided a written update. She had contacted Tidy Towns
and Philip Davies but there is no funding immediately available for providing skips
