Trees will be judged on the following criteria:
Theme – effective representation of chosen theme
Ornaments will be awarded to the top four scoring entries.
Participants will provide trees, lights, and decorations. The City of Seguin Parks and
Recreation Department will assign tree locations for tree placement.
Trees MUST BE set up between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2008.
Facilities and Grounds Staff will place stakes for tree stumps as the trees arrive. Tree
locations will be assigned as the entries are received (by phone or mail registration.) The
City of Seguin Parks and Recreation Department personnel will determine the tree’s
placement as close as possible to the lamp posts around Central Park’s perimeter.
Trees must be completed and ready for judging by 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 3,
Trees exceeding 6 feet in height will be disqualified.
No artificial trees will be accepted.
Each group must display the name of their organization by draping a ribbon with their
name across the tree. Ribbons MUST NOT exceed 4” in width and ribbon lettering
MUST NOT exceed a 2” limit.
All trees and decorations must be removed by 5 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2009. Trees will
be on display December 2, 2008 through January 1, 2009.
Keep in mind that decorations will be exposed to various weather conditions as well as
birds, squirrels, and other visitors to the park. The City of Seguin Parks & Recreation
Department is not responsible for any damage to or stolen items from contest tree entries.
Contest winners will be announced following the Holiday Parade on Thursday evening.
Space is limited, so enter your organization in the TREE DECORATING CONTEST as
soon as possible.
