Hydrophobic Coating for Automobiles Has the Potential to Save on Fuel and
Prevent Overheating of the Engine
A Hydrophobic Coating is a flat, thin surface layer that completely repels water. It's
typically made from ultra-fine, ultra-soft, ultra-violet, and extremely hydrating
substances. Attached to the surface of a material, it will create a substance called a
hydrophobic coating. When water comes in contact with this surface, the droplets
stay hydrated until they are either repelled or the water vaporizes.
These types of coatings are used on many different materials and applications.
Coatings used on concrete to prevent the growth of rust; automobile body panels to
keep the car from rusting; even anti-fog coatings for all kinds of grease and solvents.
They have many other potential uses too. A H ydrophobic

The main challenge with a hydrophobic coating is to find the right material that has
the right properties. Often it's a combination of various materials that yield the
desired result. For example, ultrafine ultra violet crystals coupled with titanium and
aluminum oxide are often mixed to create a very effective water repellant.
