Tape/CD with sounds of strong winds and waves (use as
background while telling the story)
Jesus and his disciples had just fed 5000 men, plus women and
children. They had only a little boy’s lunch…five loaves of bread and
two fish. They fed everyone until they were completely full! It was a
wonderful and amazing miracle.
After the disciples picked up the leftovers, twelve basketsful, Jesus
sent them in a boat to go ahead of him to the other side of the lake.
Jesus dismissed the crowds of people and went up on the
mountainside by himself to pray to God, his Father. When evening
came, Jesus was all alone. He could see the disciples in the boat about
halfway across the lake. The wind was blowing hard, making large
waves on the lake. They were struggling with the oars as they tried to
row to the other side.
Jesus went out to them, walking on water. It seemed so natural for
him, like he did it all the time. He walked the few miles and in no time
was right next to the disciples in their boat. The disciples saw Jesus,

but could not believe that it was he. It must be a ghost! The
