ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN IV
JOB CLASSIFICATION
GENERAL FUNCTION
Assists project engineers in the design and construction management of major construction
projects or oversees the design and construction and inspection of projects or project
components. Performs customer service and utility related functions. Processes various
applications for utility and right-of-way permits for private development.
REPRESENTATIVE ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Note – This list is

Coordinates developer submittals for new utility main and right-of-way construction, including
all documents and correspondence from preliminary to acceptance.
Prepares legal documents for recording, easements, OUA, agreements, and reviews short plats
for compliance.
Researches for construction, easement, and permit-related information.
Designs projects of moderate complexity for capital projects.
Prepares engineering drawings and specifications for capital projects.
Assists with surveying and staking.
Collect traffic data, analyze traffic problems and makes recommendations
Reviews plans for construction standards, cost estimates, and insurance requirements.
Develops computer-drafted maps for construction plans, profiles and exhibits.
Provides utility inspection for new system hook-ups, repairs, and main construction.
Provides data and updates using hydraulic model for City’s water system and sewer system.
Processes and evaluates Right-of-Way Permits and Vacation Applications such as reviewing
plans for construction standards, cost estimates, insurance requirements, traffic control plans,
calculating fees and receiving payments, writing letters or filling out and circulating forms to
release deposits and bonds, compiling updating and circulating permit log sheet, and
coordinating with utility permits.
