Education Advisory Council Meeting - Notes

The council discussed recommended jobs and job skills from the larger Green Collar Advisory Group
recommendations, and examined the table developed by TAC to identify gaps in the education/training sector
needed to create a workforce to fulfill those jobs. Finalized table is below.
They recommended adding the following job categories to the list:

New category, “renewable energy technicians” capturing both solar/photovoltaic installers and wind
turbine technicians

Added sustainable agriculture workers, LEED certified or other Green Building trained construction
managers

Added sustainability coordinators/consultants
They recommended adding the following job skills to the list:

Sustainability/economic literacy skills

21st century skills to be further defined as analytical/critical thinking, soft skills, communications,
technology, and teamwork

Added “geospatial skills” and lumped Auto Cad and GIS and GPS into that.
They identified gaps in training/education for jobs as follows:

IT support specialists (especially if CBN Connect provides much expanded broadband)

Energy auditors (especially if fuel prices continue to rise)
-
Sustainable agricultural workers/managers (apprenticeships)

LEED certified construction managers

Sustainability coordinators or consultants
