Backpacking 101 by the YAYA Hikers
This is a hands-on & fun 2 hour workshop for any Girl Scout in 6th Grade and older
Then you are qualified to join us on backpack trips.
The workshop (and the hikes) are open to individual scouts. Special workshop times
can be arranged for whole troops. Adults welcome on space available.
Who are the YAYA Hikers.
YAYA=Young Adults Yearning for Adventure
We are a group of GS teen hikers, for 6th Graders and older,
that offer monthly hiking outings to Girl Scouts.
Girls can come on their own; this is not a whole troop activity.
Trained GS adult chaperones and transportation are provided too
What gear do I need?
What are you gonna sleep in?
How will you cook?
What will you eat?
How does it all fit in your pack?
How do I go potty in the woods without a biffy?
Prerequisite: If you wish to backpack with us in the YAYA Hikers…then you
must take Hiking 101 and Backpacking 101.

*Adults this YAYA workshop does not qualify you to lead scouts on a backpack; you must take Council’s course.
