Pushing the Envelope!
As we begin our third year using our Athletic Pitcher Program we have seen
many different pitching styles arise. This is what makes our program so
SPECIAL, because it enables us to use our ATHLETICISM, contrasted the
mechanical, do as I say, robotic, nothing comes out of the hand approach
that majority of coaches in our area are teaching. We at The Zone are at
liberty to try different approaches and see what exactly feels GOOD. A lot
of people never, ever reach their God-Given potential, because they are
limited at what their coach or instructor will allow them to do. These
coaches would be well served to start the day accepting at least the
possibility that their current understandings of the truth maybe slightly (to
profoundly) in error. I, myself, do not understand the total aspect of the
pitching process, but I can say honestly that I spend countless hours trying to
educate myself into a better instructor. I personally feel the stakes are too
high…our students desperately need our guidance…so we can not afford to
let our guard down or be casual in this regard.
Weighted Balls, 7 innings of heck, etc…
In the last 20 years in our area (high schools) there have been only a handful
of fortunate pitchers that have every reached the 90 mph barrier. Since our
Academy opened June `03 we have had 5 pitchers top the 90 mph mark and
will have 3 more very soon. Why do I tell you this, because I believe these
numbers are contributed to our weighted ball program, the 7 innings of heck,
pushing the envelope on all throws to create game intensity, to where our
bodies become healthier and stronger. I have told you previously that we
believe every kid that comes in our Academy can one day throw 90 mph.
But Coach Moore…Not everyone can be a Major League Pitcher! Aren’t
you setting young people up for failure?
