Employee Satisfaction
Survey 2004
In 2002, the satisfaction and commitment of faculty and staff was established as a "Critical Success Factor"
in the UNMC strategic plan. In 2004 the survey was once again conducted to measure current employee
satisfaction and to see movement since 2002. The 2004 survey added three new questions and allowed
trends to be observed.
The survey questions were from five categories; Organizational Commitment and Credibility, Supervisory/
Managerial Competence, Workplace Relationships, Work Environment, and Rewards and Opportunities.
The 2002 survey had 28 questions, while the 2004 survey added 3 new questions. The survey was sent to
2965 employees with 1471 of those surveyed responding. Of those respondents, 1044 identified them-
selves as female, 427 as male.
A point system was set up using the core 28 question used in both surveys by adding the scores of the
questions in each category for the sub totals and adding those together to form the overall total. The three
new questions are not included in the score. Each category will start with a comparison of the two scores
followed by the comparisons of each question in that category.

The highest rankings were evident for awareness of the UNMC vision, mission, and goals, for recommend-
ing UNMC to patients, students, for job is a good fit for skills and talents and for liking their jobs. The low-
est ranking of 3.7 for "I feel I have employment stability" and "I plan to be working here three years from
now" may have been influenced by budget cuts from the legislature.
