If you can't decide between an upright vacuum and a canister vacuum, and if you aren't really sure
what the differences are, you're not alone. Most people think of canister vacuums as those vaguely
tube-like cleaners with the long snouts that their mothers and grandmothers used. Vacuums have
come a long way since that time, and there are better canisters out there. There are also upright
vacuums, and what kind of flooring you have will help you determine which one you need. You also
have another option in that you could get a central vacuum system. However, most people don't want
these because they are more costly. If one came inside your home when it was built, great. If it didn't,
you might not want to put one in because of the cost to install. If you have an older home, sometimes
the walls are also very thin, and they won't hold the hoses for the central systems. Because of those
kinds of issues, most people just want to have a regular upright or canister vacuum. And some people
buy both.
If they have wall to wall carpet throughout most of their house and area rugs in some other areas, they
might need both. Also, if they have draperies and upholstery that are delicate along with wall to wall
carpet, they may need to have both vacuums. For most people, however, only one vacuum cleaner is
