Objectives of the
Program
At the completion of his/her Endocrine Surgery Fellowship
training, the fellow should be able to apply an integrated
multidisciplinary approach, including surgical expertise, to patients
with common and complicated endocrine surgical problems. To
take advantage of the multidisciplinary expertise often required in
the overall management of endocrine surgical patients, we have
established clinical rotations in radiology for ultrasonography and
computed tomography, nuclear medicine to encompass parathyroid
and thyroid imaging and therapeutic 131-I administration,
pathology and cytology, and the various subspecialties of medical
endocrinology. The endocrine fellow would participate and be
responsible for educational conferences and intraoperative teaching,
as well as stimulate opportunities for clinical and collaborative
translational research.
Highlights of the
Fellowship
(including number

Rochester. The remaining 9 months would be devoted to operative
management. The Mayo Clinic caseload is very active as indicated
by about 270 parathyroid, 35 laparoscopic adrenal, 130 papillary
