Created: September 2000
Revised: May 2004
Nothing captures a student’s imagination more than a well designed lesson that features a computer component. While computer activity is not a subject that is
designated as such in Ontario’s Elementary School Curriculum, the curriculum is clearly documented with opportunities where the computer can play an
important role.
This documents identifies five strands of computer use
Computer Operation
Curriculum Support
Multimedia

Writing/Publishing
In addition, scenarios for what successful computer use “looks like” in each of the Primary, Junior and Intermediate divisions lends further suggestions as to
how the computer can effectively be used in the classroom.
