Eager steps
SUMMER 2007
Stepping Back
Since our last letter, we have had a baptism at the
beach and some outreaches along with our regu-
lar ministry activities. In April we hosted another
Mini-Olympics to celebrate the Children’s Day
holiday which is very important here in Mexico.
Our youth planned a special evangelistic puppet
presentation as part of the program which kids
and adults alike enjoyed. We had a great turnout
and were able to use the new church property
for the event. Unfortunately, the paperwork still
has not come through in order to begin construc-
tion. Please, continue to pray for this need.
We are keeping especially busy with the youth
during the summer months while they are on
vacation. In addition to our regular, weekly Bible
study time on Saturday evenings, they have done
a service project and a special overnight outing
to La Paz (the capital). We were able to take them
on a kayak trip in the morning with our fellow
TEAM missionary, Steve Dresselhaus. We then
had a special time with the youth group from the
church plant there and a short term group sent
by another ministry, Leadertreks. The Leader-
treks’ leader led the youth in a very inspiring
and motivating devotional time. We also attended
the Sunday morning service in La Paz which was
a great experience for our youth who have not
had many opportunities to fellowship with other
evangelical churches.
Please continue to pray for our youth as there are
so many attacks on them. Please pray for their
purity and for protection of their minds from all
of the destructive messages that surround them,
encouraging them to drink and take drugs. Please
pray for wisdom for us as well as our co-leaders,
Mauricio and Marcela, as we seek to help them
in their walk with the Lord. Please pray for the
salvation of several visitors who’ve attended the
past few months.
Phil has continued to make good connections
with young men in our neighborhood through
his basketball ministry. Please pray for opportu-
nities
