Balancing Statements for Negative Self Image
Please identify any typical negative descriptions or statements you make about yourself during the week
and write them down in the left hand column. In the right hand column write down an alternative statement
which balances the first statement by moderating it in a realistic manner. An example is given, but feel
free to do it in the way which seems most useful to you.
In future when you find yourself applying the negative description to what you are doing remind yourself of
the realistic balancing statement to relieve the pressure on yourself.
