Yacht Carbon Offset – Press Release
04 November 2009
Yacht Carbon Offset for Antigua & St. Maarten Charter Shows
Both the Antigua Charter Yacht Meeting and the MYBA St. Maarten Charter
Show are offsetting greenhouse gas emissions from the events, through Yacht
Carbon Offset. Their decisions reflect the growing number of yacht owners and
charterers that want to compensate for their vessels’ carbon footprint.
Carbon Offsetting can easily be included in the arrangements of a luxury yacht
charter, and is a proportionate response that preserves full freedom of operation.
The equivalent carbon emissions reductions are achieved by independently
verified green energy projects, and the effectiveness of the action is underpinned
by Yacht Carbon Offset’s Lloyds Register Quality Assurance Certification.
Paul Deeth, of the Antigua Charter Yacht Meeting said: “With the Antigua
Charter Show coincident with the U’s Copenhagen Summit, the issue of
greenhouse gases is set to remain at the top of the agenda. So the opportunity to
take pragmatic action is both timely and relevant. Our gathering has
traditionally been a place to share new ideas and we are pleased to be working
with Yacht Carbon Offset, to help bring carbon offsetting to the attention of yacht
owners, charterers and those that support them.”
Lucille Frye, Show Manager of the MYBA St. Maarten Charter Show said: “The
St Maarten Show brings together Captains, Brokers, Vendors, Media and other
industry professionals from around the world, and is a great opportunity to
consider carbon offsetting within the industry. We warmly welcome Yacht
Carbon Offset as sponsors.”
Yacht Carbon Offset’s Managing Director Mark Robinson commented: “We are
delighted to be partnering with both of these key events in the professional
calendar. Carbon offsetting appeals to many high profile charter clients and we
thank the teams in St. Maarten and Antigua for their action and for their support
in raising awareness of this specialist service.
