TOM EMMER won’t fix Minnesota’s
problems. He’ll make them even worse.
I M P O R T A N T U N I O N M E S S A G E
Tom Emmer is one of those politicians who causes problems and then refuses to
take responsibility. He voted against fixing our bridges and when the I-35 bridge
collapsed, he opposed compensating the people who got hurt.
1. Voted Against Funds that May Have Prevented Bridge Collapse
Emmer voted three times against funds that would have repaired broken infrastructure across
Minnesota, including the I-35 bridge. He even voted against the final attempt to rebuild
infrastructure before the bridge collapsed. [HF 946, Journal Page 2016, 3/24/07, Journal Page 6640, 5/14/07, Journal
Page 7571, 5/21/07]
2. Opposed Bill to Compensate Bridge Collapse Victims
Emmer was one of only ten representatives that voted against efforts to compensate victims of
the bridge collapse. [Minneapolis Star Tribune, 2/29/08; HF 2553, Journal Page 11270, 5/5/08]
3. Voted Against Infrastructure Improvements After Bridge Collapsed
Emmer opposed a $6.6 billion plan to rebuild roads, bridges, and transit throughout Minnesota
even after the I-35 bridge collapse. [HF 2800, Journal Page 7883, 2/21/08]
