Alphabet is a new sofa from Fritz Hansen inspired by Lego bricks.
Piero Lissoni has created a flexible modular concept of colours and
shapes like letters in an alphabet. Combine the colours and shapes
like you want and create your own personal statement. There is only
one rule. If it feels right, it’s spelled right.
Italian Piero Lissoni is a designer and architect with a
degree from the Polytechnico of Milan. In 1986 Lissoni
founded the Studio Lissoni. Since then Piero Lissoni has
worked with a dense list of design brands, such as Boffi,
Cassina, Kartell, Living Divani and Flos on a wide diver-
sity of designs of furniture and lighting.
Lissoni’s projects are often total designs, i.e. full-scale in-
teriors and architecture of hotels, offices and showrooms,
yachts and private homes. He’s inspired by many different
elements but also designers such as Danish Arne Jacobsen
and Poul Kjærholm.
Piero Lissoni’s design principle is never to design for a spe-
cific function or purpose - but to design for human beings.
Lissoni got his inspiration for the sofa from LEGO and the
ability to play with bricks. This is reflected in ALPHABET’s
modularity that allows a mix of colors, fabrics, and over-

Alphabet is a flexible, modular-based sofa system that can be put to-
gether in a variety of combinations.
The series consists of seat modules in 4 different sizes, 8 straight back-
rests, an L-shaped corner backrest, an armrest, and cushions. The fully
upholstered seat, back-, and armrest modules are constructed of layers
of high-resiliency (HR) foam with firmer foam on the seat module’s front.
