Concord, Massachusetts (PRWEB) October 22, 2009 -- Euclid Discoveries, a leading developer of video
compression technologies, today announced it has filed its 73rd patent application. The patent filing claims key
advancements in the technology, called EuclidVision™, including its first physical implementation, the
EuclidVision codec, and secures those claims with priority dates as early as 2005.
The patent, which includes 35 claims, was filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). The PCT provides a
unified procedure for reserving patent rights in 142 countries, including a vast majority of the world's
industrialized nations. Concurrent with the PCT filing, the company also filed an application covering the same
claims in Taiwan, as it is not a member of the PCT.
One of the most significant aspects of this patent application is its protection of the company's first physical
implementation of the technology, the EuclidVision™ codec. The EuclidVision codec is based on the MPEG-4
codec, facilitating conformance to the industry standard, while delivering unprecedented compression levels
through Euclid's proprietary algorithms. Euclid has led the industry in application of object and feature based
modeling combined with normalization to achieve improved video compression levels.
"With this patent filing we have achieved a major advancement in the field of video compression, securing
Euclid Discoveries' position as the leader in the next era of video compression," said Richard Wingard, Euclid's
CEO. "MPEG-4 codecs are the industry standar
