ffirming a person’s dignity can begin with the smallest of
gestures, like providing clean clothing, including new men’s
and women’s underwear, socks and t-shirts. We need your
help to make sure that we can provide these items to
those who desperately need them.
On President’s Day, Monday, February 20th, the Los Angeles Mission
will join hundreds of other supporters to march the streets of downtown
Los Angeles, proclaiming that dignity rebuilds people and can start with
as small a gesture as providing new underwear for someone who has
no resources to buy them him or her self.

here was snow, Santa and lots of presents for the needy children of
Hope Central on Friday, December 23rd, the day of our annual
Christmas dinner.
Well known movie and television actors were on hand to join hundreds
of volunteers to serve a hearty meal, sing Christmas carols, and distribute gifts to
both children and adults. Jennifer Love Hewitt, star of the hit CBS show “Ghost Whisperer,”
was the host for the second consecutive year.
“I think this is truly what this season is about,” Hewitt said. “Really, Christmas is about the
human connection of man
to man, spirit to spirit.
You don’t get that any bet-
ter than here at the Los
Angeles Mission.”
This Christmas meal is
a favorite of our “friends
and neighbors” here
at Hope Central. Our
Food Service Director,
Chris Cormier, conducted
an informal survey to
determine the menu for
this event, and again this
year, it was oven roasted
chicken, 3-cheese maca-
roni, mixed vegetables,
cranberry sauce, rolls and
butter and pumpkin pie.
More than 3,000 pounds of chicken, 400 pounds of pasta, and 125 gallons of cheese
