Consonus and Hi-Tech Transportation Facilitate "Drama-Free" Data Center
Relocation for ESL Federal Credit Union
Data Center Relocation team moves 200 servers and other data center devices to new
headquarters in under 12 hours, beating goal for resumption of normal operations
Cary, North Carolina (PRWEB) March 4, 2010 -- Consonus today announced that together with its data center
relocation partner Hi-Tech Transportation and ESL Federal Credit Union's internal project management and IT
teams, the company beat ESL's deadline for the relocation of more than 200 servers and other data center devices.
The move, scheduled for the February holiday weekend, was completed in less than 12 hours - beginning at the
close of business on 2:00 p.m. Saturday - returning one of the country's largest credit unions to full operational
status by Sunday afternoon.
Recognizing their need for data center relocation expertise, ESL selected Hi-Tech Transportation and Consonus
to assist ESL staff in the detailed planning and execution of the move. An expert Consonus Project Manager led
the intensive eight-month planning process employing Consonus' proven four-phase process: (1) Requirements
Gathering; (2) Design Planning; (3) Implementation Planning, and (4) Execution.
"From my initial conversation with Consonus and Hi-Tech Transportation, I was aware that this team really
knows its business," said Ray Kaforey, Network Services Manager for ESL Federal Credit Union. "After
investigating other providers, I became convinced that Consonus and Hi-Tech Transportation were the best data
center relocation partners for ESL. Their experience in planning, documenting, and executing a data center
relocation was vital to the great success we achieved in moving over 200 servers, SANs, and other devices in a
single night with no unplanned impact to our members. The working relationship developed between ESL,
Consonus, and Hi-Tech Transportation was simply outstanding."
