Disinfectant devices are intended to kill pathogens and other kinds of microorganisms by chemical means or physical means. Disinfectant devices can kill most recognized pathogenic microorganisms, but not necessarily all microbial forms, such as bacterial spores. Disinfectant devices commonly used in health care settings include chemical/physical disinfectant devices and ultraviolet (UV) disinfectant devices. Disinfection devices that are used for water help in removing, deactivation or killing of pathogenic microorganisms. Microorganisms are destroyed, resulting in termination of growth and reproduction.
