I am inviting you to participate in a research project titled "Sustaining Change in Higher
Education: the Case of Assessment for Accreditation at the University of Texas System.” You
are selected to be a possible participant in this study because you are a faculty or administrator at
UT Dallas or assessment experts. The goal of the study is to expand the understanding of
sustaining large-scale change efforts in a movement toward accountability and performance
measurement within the public universities. The study will use a university wide assessment
process as the case study. Six universities within the UT System that finished the SACS
accreditation in 2006 to 2008 to will be used as the case study (UT Arlington, UT Austin, UT
Brownsville, UT Dallas, UT El Paso, and UT Pan American)..
Metta Alsobrook, Assessment Coordinator at UT Dallas and PhD candidate in UT Dallas
Public Affairs program, is the Principal Investigators for this study. Participation in this study
will involve completing an online survey. Potentially 29 people will be asked to participate in
as the reviewer of the survey questions. You will be contributing to knowledge about
sustaining the change effort in the public higher education institutions.
There are no risks or discomforts are anticipated from taking part in this study and I
guarantee that your responses will not be identified with you personally. The researcher will
take all measures to ensure your privacy and keep the data safely stored. Only the PI will
have access to the data. Your name or anyone's name from your family or from the people I
know will not appear in the data or the final repor
