Work Experience
2003 – April
Electrical Consultant
Worked as a consultant designing protection and control schemes, protection settings and
writing policy documents.
Two typical projects completed during this period were:
1. An existing 132kV substation with 24 air blast CBs was replaced by a new indoor
132kV GIS substation. Designed and managed the protection changes. using
Siemens Siprotec protection relays. The 132kV circuits were transferred on a
phased programme basis. Requiring protection modifications and setting changes
for each stage of the programme. The settings and protection at the remote ends of
the circuits were investigated and modified to suit.
2. An existing 33/11kV substation was replaced with a new 132/11kV substation.
Two 132/11kV double winding transformers were installed. Responsibilities
included auditing the manufacturer’s protection design schematics and calculating
the protection and control settings for these transformers.
Produced the field engineer’s guide for the on-site maintenance and testing of Reyrolle
Duo bias M transformer protection.
