The education system is unprecedentedly disrupted by full closure of education institutes due to worldwide pandemic called Covid 19. This has shifted the physical mode of education to online mode and drastically forced the government to take proactive steps to smoothly continue the education digitally. A sudden change has potential impact on education outcome on students and their level of understanding. In the present study the concept of digital education and the role of Government of India have been analyzed. Responses collected from 448 undergraduate students in West Bengal, on the constructs of Understandability, Credibility, Convenience and Techno stress. Descriptive statistics are used and parametric tests like one way ANOVA and Pearson correlation are applied for data analysis. Demographic factors like gender, type of institution, locality and monthly family income are considered. WhatsApp is mainly used as online education medium. Online education has positive impact on all the four constructs. Gender as a demographic factor significantly influences the variation in Understandability, Credibility and Convenience of online education. Locality influences the Techno stress and the Techno stress negatively associated with other three constructs. J. K. ABSTRACT
The education system is unprecedentedly disrupted by full closure of
education institutes due to worldwide pandemic called Covid-19.
This has shifted the physical mode of education to online mode and
drastically forced the government to take proactive steps to smoothly
continue the education digitally. A sudden change has potential
impact on education outcome on students and their level of
understanding. In the present study the concept of digital education
and the role of Government of India have been analyzed. Responses
collected from 448 undergraduate students in West Bengal, on the
constructs of Understandability, Credibility, Convenience and
Techno- stress. Descriptive statistics are used and parametric tests
like one way ANOVA and Pearson correlation are applied for data
analysis. Demographic factors like gender, type of institution, locality
and monthly family income are considered. WhatsApp is mainly used
as online education medium. Online education has positive impact on
all the four constructs. Gender as a demographic factor significantly
influences the variation in Understandability, Credibility and
Convenience of online education. Locality influences the Techno-
stress and the Techno-stress negatively associated with other three
constructs.
