Application Monitoring and Support services for a Telecommunication
As most of you probably know, there is much talk on TV and in the papers today predicting that
the US economy is heading for a slow down. My company started over 20 years ago and has
been through a number "recessions". This experience has provided me with insight on how to
navigate through these more challenging times. Let’s share one of the Support service
experiences which we had for a Telecommunication company. The client is one of the leading
players in the Telecommunication business with geographic circles spread across India. The
company offers contract and pre-paid cellular service options and a number of value-added
services such as mobile Web browsing, video streaming, and multimedia messaging.
The client had Oracle Apps 184.108.40.206 version and database 10g installed. They used the
following modules in their geographic circles:
• Financials (AP, AR, GL, FA, CM)
• Distribution (INV, OM, PO)
• Country Localization
They faced a high degree of complexity in supporting day to day functions. There were delays
involved in generation of statutory month and year end sub ledger and ledger closures due to
low end user knowledge. As a result they were unable to keep pace with the fast growing
business including new application user base and geographic units.
After having thorough discussions with the end users and the IT team, Infogain’s expert team
intiated the project by providing functional support for day-to-day operational issues. Infogain
proactively identified complex application production problems and coordinated with support
teams for restoring the service operations as quickly as possible. A team of Oracle experts
also provided Apps DBA support for monitoring and tuning the database.
