Eavesdropping Software to Listen In On Cell Phones
The technology exists to install a software program on Smart Phones (cell phones) that will allow
persons to listen in on conversations made over the phone, obtain copies of text messages sent to
and from the phone, and to turn on the microphone of the phone to listen to conversations within
sound range of the phone. One web site that offers these services is http://www.flexispy.com. This
company Vervata (http://www.vervata.com) is located in Bangkok, Thailand and it would be difficult to
subject them US laws on eavesdropping. Another software package is at http://www.mobile-spy.com.
Anti-Virus companies including f-secure are now detecting the installation of some of this spyware
software on protected mobile devices.
These software packages appear to require at least one time access to the phone itself to download
the software to the phone, but once installed would allow remote access as far away as the suspect
wanted to be.
